Obituary of Matthias Wolfgangus Dizy

It is with great sadness that the family of Matthias “Ted” Dizy announce his passing on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the age of 85 years. Ted is survived by his children Gerry, Len (Mariana), Peter, Rick (Michelle), Rob (Michelle), and Michelle (Brad) Wild; grandchildren Raegan, Ashley, Adrianna, Marco, Julia, Jack, Charlotte, Matthew, Caleb, Hana, Nolan, and Makena; along with numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Gene (Helen), Chris (Flo), Lynn (Gerry) Heymen, John (Adele), Liz Maticka, Bill (Pat), Agnes Schmigelsky, Nettie Lozanski, Fr. Tonny, Cathy (Barry) Wittal, and Joanne (Stan) Crawford; and sister-in-law Dicky. Ted will be dearly missed by his special friend Marcella Moldovan. He was predeceased by his wife Alma; parents Peter and Elizabeth; and by his siblings Rita, Mel, and Peter.

Ted was born in Leerdam, Holland in 1938, immigrating to Canada at the age of 17. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Alma, and together they had six children. Ted worked for the City of Regina for over 30 years. He was dedicated to his family and had a hardworking, compassionate nature with a tender, kind, and gentle personality. Faith was an essential part of Ted's life, and he attended daily Mass for many years. He was happy to live a simple life, was easy to please, and his selflessness, optimism, and positivity will stand out in our memories.

Ted enjoyed CFL football, always cheering on the Riders, spending summers at the cottage, singing in the choir, and his noon hour workouts. He will be deeply missed and always cherished by his family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Holy Cross R.C. Parish. 315 Douglas Avenue East, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marian Centre, 1835 Halifax Street Regina, SK S4P 1T4.
